Start by looking on the internet or contacting the tourist board of the country which you want to travel to, to get information about resorts, hotels and apartments. Don’t be put off by the fear of receiving information in a foreign language as you can get an interpreting agency to translate this for you. [Read more...]

Grab That Last Minute Deal

Last Minute Holidays

Last Minute Holidays

If you’re wanting a last minute holiday then here are a few tips to get you on your way.
A last minute holiday or late holidays as they are sometime classed as can be booked from about 5 weeks before departure date right up to a few hours before a flight leaves. So if you are wanting to get away within a month or so don’t always leave it until the very last minute to book a holiday as you may be surprised at what’s on offer a few weeks before departure.
The reason flight and tour operators release late deals is to fill empty seats and occupancy in accommodation. If you want to travel on a scheduled flight please be aware that you can’t always get a last minute bargain, quite often you will find that schedule flight prices are better value for money the further in advance you book. It is mainly charter flights who will lower their prices.
Tour operators offer many different types of late holidays.  If you are on a very strict budget and you have the flexibility and the courage to take an un-named package deal, you can grab yourself some fantastic bargains. An even though you are unaware of the name of the accommodation you are going to be staying in and in some cases you won’t even know the resort name, you will know the board basis and the what the lowest standard of accommodation you will be staying in. This is because the tour operator will allocate accommodation on arrival depending on what rooms in which hotels/apartments they need to occupy. For some this type of last minute holiday can work out brilliantly as you could quite possibly find yourself in a 5 start hotel and have paid half the price for it. These types of deals obviously do come with health warnings, if you are after a quite relaxing holiday or vice versa a lively action packed holiday, you could end up in a resort that is completely unsuitable.
By booking a couple of weeks in advance you do higher the possibility of booking yourself a named last minute holiday, in these cases you will know the board basis and the accommodation rating, you will even know the resort.
The last option is to pick out the accommodation you want to stay in and see if they have any availability, you stand a good chance of having the price reduced as hoteliers would rather have full occupancy than en empty room.
Whichever late holiday type you chose, just; enjoy it!

Fall In Love with Parga

Parga is possibly one of the least well known of the areas of Greece. Some class it as ‘an island paradise on the mainland’.
Getting to Parga is very easy; you need to find a tour operator or flight company offering the best holiday deals. If you are aiming at touring Greece and Its Islands, Parga can also be reached by boat from Corfu and Paxos.
Parga is situated around not just one but two absolutely stunning bays. The beaches are a mix of both pebbles and sand which is great as it gives you a choice in where to sunbathe. There is a wealth of historical gems and sightseeing opportunities and with Parga being only a short boat ride away from Paxos and Corfu you have the advantage of being able to venture further afield to either while away hot sunny days on one of Paxos’s beaches or viewing the many sights of Corfu.
Parga has a very traditional Greek feel as it houses white washed tavernas with colourful shutters which line delightful cobbled streets all offering local Greek food. Fresh fish from the fishermen dropping their loads at the quayside are cooked and served in the many tavernas/restaurants that line the bays. At night there is a real buzz in the air as the tavernas fill with not only tourists but the very friendly locals who will burst into song with what’s known as bouzouki music.
If you’re looking to fall in love with Greece then Parga is definitely the place to come to sample authentic and traditional Greek hospitality.

Where to go when travelling to Turkey

The most popular area of Turkey for tourists to visit is the Dalaman region. To find cheap holidays to Turkey you can book flights and hotel individually. Flights to Dalaman are offered by most flight and tour operators and with the flying time from the UK being approximately 4 hours it makes it an easily accessible destination.
The Dalaman region is made up of the main holiday resorts of Marmaris, Fethiye, Olu Deniz, and Icmeler. Every type of holiday maker can be catered for as there is a very diverse range of entertainment and activities as well as accommodation to suit all budgets and board requirements.
Marmaris is the liveliest of the resorts, offering a huge beach for both relaxing on and topping up your tan to exerting yourself with the water sports on offer. If you are after a resort offering nightclubs and bars that are open late into the night then this is definitely the resort for you.
Just down the road is the more laid back Icmeler for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of Marmaris but still wanting a buzzing atmosphere with plenty of nightlife. Although you would have to take the short trip to Marmaris if you like clubbing.
Fethiye suits those wanting to explore as this resort is based around a historical port, ideal for sightseeing, eating great Turkish food in sea front bars and restaurants and picking up a Gullet cruise to take you around the stunning turquoise coast.
If you’re wanting to really kick back and relax Olu Deniz is the place to go. This resort is situated around its own lagoon which hosts one of the most beautiful beaches in turkey. The resort itself is very quiet and the pace of life is very chilled so if you’re looking for something a little livelier then this may not be the resort to go.

The Brilliance of Benidorm

When thinking about taking a bargain holiday abroad, the first destination that pops into a lot of peoples’ heads is Spain and in particular Benidorm.
When searching for cheap holidays Benidorm whether it is online from the comfort of your own home or you nip into your local travel agent, it can be more or less guaranteed you will not be disappointed.
Many, many years ago Benidorm used to be a sleepy little fishing village, and then air travel became all the rage. This allowed it to grow from being a quiet village to a lively, vivacious resort offering miles of golden sand, crystal clear sea, entertainment coming out of your ears, water sports, water parks, theme parks and accommodation on a mass scale suitable for all tastes. The Old town still does offer a more relaxing, quiet side to Benidorm for those searching for something not quite as busy.
You can find 2 star to 5 star accommodation offering everything from self catering options up to full board and all inclusive options. Even though majority of the accommodation is situated in high rise buildings, Benidorm is fully geared up for those with mobility difficulties so don’t let this put you off.
Benidorm can be enjoyed all year round as being on the Costa Blanca it benefits from its own micro-climate which means you get long hot summer days and lovely warm winters. So for any time of year you’ll be sure to bag a Benidorm Bargain!

Bagging a Bargain Holiday

Due to the current economic climate and the fact that majority of people are cutting back on their spending, it’s not surprising that going on an annual holiday is one of the first expenditures that is looked at when working out your incoming and outgoing money.
Rather than giving up hope of relaxing on a sun kissed beach and facing the daunting prospect of yet a another rainy holiday stuck at home do some research. There are many cheap holidays abroad being offered.
There are number of options available to the money conscious traveller. The first recommendation would be to look for a last minute deal. Most tour operators would rather have a flight seat filled and accommodation full. When nearing the date of departure if these are still empty you will find the cost of a holiday greatly reduced to ensure that flights seats and bed space are occupied.
Look at where you want to go as some destinations are cheaper than others. There’s no denying that if you’re used to a 5* hotel Barbados, anything below that standard can be daunting. It need not be though just by researching alternatives. Using the Caribbean as an example, look at maybe travelling to a different Island as there is often a vast price difference between a 5* hotel in Barbados and the same standard of accommodation in the Dominican Republic.
Whether you’re travelling long haul or short haul just looking at different resorts within a destination you can find varying prices for which you don’t necessarily have to sacrifice standard.
By being flexible with your search details can also save you a few pounds. It’s not always possible to avoid the main holiday periods and it is no secret that the cost of a holiday during these periods can sometimes be more than double what you would pay going at an off peak time, you can however make savings by looking at taking a night flight, or fly during the week as weekend flights can be more expensive.
So you see, it isn’t doom and gloom when you’re counting those pennies, there are still cheap abroad holidays to be had.
